yesterday flying into NY i had the craziest people sitting next to me. On my left was this actor from NYPD blue and some of Spike Lee's films- jungle fever and Mo betta blues. his brother is the guy from adam sandlers Mr. Deeds who keeps saying SNEAKY SNEAKY.
on my right was an economic consultant to the white house who had sat in on some major some meetings regarding the war on Iraq.
he was wrapped up in making alot of money and enamored by himself but a nice enough guy. after alot of talk he admitted to alot of my criticisms of the bush administation and the the shadyness of their agenda. i was trying to ask whether they could actually believe the simplistic idea that the rest of the world hates US freedom and are jealous of our wealth and that is why they attacked us. but he said none of the meetings ever brought up oil even though everybody in the room knew that that was the major reason for going in.
in the end he said, what are u gonna do? "i try to slightly effect economic policy and not get too caught up with trying to change entire system or platform". thats the way the world works. and in some sense it works for him. he has two houses, a boat and flies on air force one. but it doesnt work for a large proportion of the world.
anyway, he had some interesting takes. he said he saw footage of sept 11 that showed close ups of people jumping and bouncing off the ground that wasnt released to the public. after 6 min he just had to laugh to cope.
